Commitment

There’s an empty chair in the corner of my room,

Just thinking of you there makes me intake breath,

My eyes flicker.

I want to crawl to you.

If you were really there, would you look as appealing as I imagine?

I think you probably would.

I know what we’d be like if you were here, burning.

Maybe it’s better that you don’t come.

Things’d happen and you’d want to run away,

My love is so good, but you can’t accept it.

I can’t give it to anyone else.
